Subnautica 2 Dispute: What the March Court Opinion Says

A narrow source-linked account of the March 16, 2026 court opinion; what it decided and what it left open.

The relevant original record is the March 16, 2026 Delaware Court of Chancery opinion in Fortis Advisors v. Krafton, C.A. 2025-0805-LWW. This page summarizes that dated decision; it is not a current litigation docket or a statement that every dispute has concluded.

What that decision established

The opinion describes Krafton’s 2021 acquisition of Unknown Worlds for $500 million upfront and up to $250 million in contingent earnout payments. It finds breaches relating to the leadership terminations and operational-control rights.

The remedy reinstated Ted Gill as CEO with operational authority and extended the base earnout period by the duration of his removal. The opinion expressly reserved earnout-impairment and potential money-damages questions for a later litigation phase. A reserved damages question is different from an order paying the entire contingent amount.

What does it mean for a player checking release information?

The March opinion addresses operational control and the authority to proceed with Early Access. For the product’s actual release date, use the developer launch announcement, which records the May 14 launch. A court decision, a subsequent product launch and a future content roadmap are separate dated records.

We do not infer the current executive team, later litigation status or a future update date from this historical opinion.
