FAQ

Biome questions players ask

How many biomes are in Subnautica 2?

This hub tracks 8 biome labels for the Early Access build, separated by confidence: some are confirmed from official footage and the Steam page, others are community-sourced or predicted from earlier Subnautica games. Unknown Worlds' roadmap lists more biomes under future expansion updates, so the count grows as Early Access expands.

What is the deepest biome in Subnautica 2 right now?

The deepest label we track is the Abyssal Trench style zone at 1000m+, but it is a prediction rather than a confirmed Early Access location. Confirmed shallow zones like Twisty Bridges (0-100m) and Kelp Forest (20-160m) are the ones you can rely on at launch.

Are these the final Subnautica 2 biome names?

No. Several names are working labels carried over from earlier Subnautica games and community reporting. We tag each biome as confirmed, community-sourced or predicted so you can tell which names are official and which still need in-game confirmation.

Methodology

Confirmed labels appear in the official trailer or Steam store materials. Community labels come from Reddit, Discord, video clips and pre-launch claims. Predicted labels are inferred from Subnautica 1 / Below Zero patterns. The full methodology is in the Subnautica 2 biomes article.
