Subnautica 2 Creatures: Behavior and Update References

Documented creature changes and links to specific encounter questions; no invented complete roster or per-biome spawn table.

Official creature references help establish a name or an interaction, but do not automatically establish a spawn area, population or safe approach.

Encounter changes to compare with older advice

  • Collector Leviathan: September 1 revised lower-canyon pathfinding and collision. Read Collector notes before relying on an old obstacle-based crossing.
  • Shiver Leviathan: October 6 changed its interaction with unpiloted vehicles. This does not say piloted vehicles or swimmers are safe. See boundary notes.
  • Great Jaw: August 19 prevented building bases inside it. A video demonstrating that exploit may be historical.
  • Bloom Parasite: July 8 revised behavior and balanced encounters in Coral Gardens and Ruins areas. It did not publish a complete encounter map.

Sources: September 1, October 6, August 19, July 8.

Tool reactions are version-sensitive

The July note describes changed reactions to the Survival Multitool and Sonic Resonator; August changed Resonator behavior further. Use equipment for the later specific changes rather than treating July as a permanent rule for all creatures.

Identifying an unfamiliar encounter

Our suggested record is the displayed creature name, a screenshot or continuous clip, build, branch, mod status and what you were doing immediately before the encounter. Separate a Databank classification from an interpretation based only on size or silhouette.

This list is not a complete Leviathan count. The Elusive Leviathan question remains unverified here; we do not publish a guessed spawn command or location.

For missing signal text, vehicle recovery or currents, the immediate cause may be a documented bug rather than a new creature mechanic. Compare the patch history before assigning a theory to the behavior.
