Subnautica 2 Collector Leviathan: Current Behavior Notes
Collector changes documented in September and October 2026, plus a checklist for evaluating old avoidance advice.
The Collector Leviathan’s behavior has changed during Early Access. A route recorded before those changes may fail in a current save, even if a video genuinely showed it working then. This page tracks the relevant changes rather than promising an untested safe passage.
Changes that affect old encounter guides
- Buddy System Hotfix 1, September 1: lower-canyon pathfinding and collision detection were revised. This is a reason to revisit older terrain-hugging advice.
- Hotfix 2, October 6: the Leviathan grab attack against the Tadpole vehicle was improved. The note does not name the Collector as the creature involved and does not provide a guaranteed escape sequence.
Before following an avoidance clip
Our recommendation is to compare the clip’s date, branch and vehicle setup with your own save. Identify what the author actually demonstrates: one successful crossing, repeated tests, or an assertion over unrelated footage. One crossing cannot establish an invulnerable corridor.
If an encounter behaves differently, record whether you were swimming or using a Tadpole, whether the creature was already engaged, and what terrain separated you. Those details are more useful in a bug report than a claim that the creature is universally broken.
